Collection: Terracotta & Pottery

Teracotta and pottery are significant crafts in Odisha, with a rich history dating back to the beginning of civilization. The state is home to over 10,000 terracotta artisans who produce traditional, decorative, and utility items. The craft is particularly prominent in various districts, including Sonepur, Barapalli, Haldharpur, Nuagaon, Lunukua, and Kusumi.

The artisans involved in this craft are skilled in shaping clay into intricate designs, often drawing inspiration from local myths and beliefs. The terracotta products include roof tiles, household objects, and decorative items like planters and statues.

The artisans have received recognition for their work, including awards for their innovative and traditional approaches to this ancient craft. Sri Ajay Kumar Samanta from Bhubaneswar and Sri Prakash Chandra Mohapatra from Gajapati have won State Merit Awards in 1988 and many more further.
