This craft is found most predominantly in the Raghurajpur village of Puri district, where artisans have been perfecting this art form for generations.

The artisans involved in this craft are primarily women who have inherited the skill from their mothers and grandmothers. They use a variety of fabrics, including silk, cotton, and tussar, to create intricate designs and patterns.

The artisans have received several awards for their exceptional work, including the National Award for Handicrafts in 2017 and 2019. Smt. Sabita Moharana recently got awarded presigious State Award in 2022 for her marvellous work.
